In contrast to last year’s swirl of changes, this year has been one of trying to write the beginning of a new chapter. Change happened slowly and small victories were won over days, weeks, months of repeated effort. From my new job to reconnecting with old friends to slowly building up acquaintances into friends, this year has felt very deliberate. While it has gone quickly and Kris and I have objectively done a lot, I feel like this was a year of sowing and reaping.
This has also been my first full year of recording one second of video every day. I talked about this practice at the end of 2023 and have mostly managed to keep up the habit since then. There have been a couple of days of fudging, certainly, but I have something for each and every day of 2024. Between recording my thoughts periodically here, Kris maintaining a thorough visual record on her Instagram, and taking a small snippet of each day, I look back on 2024 as more of a transitional year than almost any year before it. I have made some steps, hopefully in the right direction, but there is still a long, foggy path ahead of me.
2025 lies ahead and I have hopes and goals that I will share in due time. For now, let’s look back together at the past year of moments both big and small, all whizzing by in one-second chunks. I hope that 2024 was kind to you, and that 2025 will be even better for all of us.
